818,000 customers affected by Hurricane Sandy

Public Service Electric & Gas (PSEG) puts current estimates of the number customers affected by Hurricane Sandy at over 1.7 million. So far electricity has been restored to about 818,000 customers leaving approximately 882,000 customers without power. The most optimistic forecast of when service will be restored is within seven to 10 days. According to PSE&G, this is the worst storm in its history and caused major flooding of substations, damaged power lines and other equipment.
